Supervisor Title Athletic Director / Head Coach - Baseball Location Main Campus (Dobson) Job Description - Summary The Men’s Baseball Assistant Coach is responsible to help the Head Coach plan, manage, coordinate, operate, and evaluate the Men’s Baseball program at the College.

Reporting to the Head Coach, this position is expected to adhere to the responsibilities of competitive success, the academic success of students, fiscal responsibility, and rules compliance within the parameters set forth by the NJCAA.

This is a part-time position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Specifically the Men’s Baseball Assistant Coach will :

A. Help the Head Coach assume responsibility to student-athlete compliance with all NJCAA rules and regulations, and assist in resolving cases where a student-athlete violates an applicable regulation.

B. Inform student-athletes of academic and other matters pertaining to their enrollment and educational progress.

C. Recruit, advise, and sign student-athletes for team participation.

D. Coordinate, plan, and direct the athletic skill development for student-athletes in preparation for scheduled competition.

E. Ensure appropriate safety measures are observed when conducting team activities.

F. Attend all team practices and home and away contests.

G. Help the Head Coach scout and prepare for future opponents.

H. Help the Head Coach collect, summarize, and analyze player and team statistics to make data driven decision that will help the development of the players and team.

I. Develop positive relationships and collaborative partnerships with coaches of schools, colleges, universities, as well as businesses and industry leaders within the service area to provide opportunities for students.

J. Work within budgetary guidelines established by the College, and provide innovative leadership and direction for identifying and obtaining future funding through third-party resources that can support the team.

K. Work with Marketing, Campus Life, alumni, student groups, College administration and community groups to participate in student and community events.

L. Perform other duties which support the mission and initiatives of the College.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common correspondence and reports.

  • Ability to effectively present information to management, students, faculty, staff, or the public at-large.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS :

Ability to apply and understand standard mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

REASONING ABILITY :

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES :

  • Understanding of and commitment to the unique nature and role of the College and to the philosophy of the community college system. Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or Associate Degree
  • Minimum of three years of combined playing and / or coaching experience, preferably in a college setting.
  • Must be a self-starter with initiative, commitment, and dedication; must have excellent human relations skills, including a collaborative leadership style.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree with at least five years of combined playing and / or coaching experience, preferably in a college setting.
  • Possession of CDL, or willingness to obtain a CDL.
